Tony Feher featured in ARTnews
Tony Feher is featured on pages 110-115 of the February 2008 issue of ARTnews. Upcoming exhibitions of Feher's work will include a solo exhibition at D'Amelio Terras Gallery as well as a concurrent solo exhibition at PaceWildenstein Gallery at 57th St in March 2008.
Hilarie M. Sheets writes,
"Twenty years ago Tony Feher had an epiphany as he looked through the window of a children's store in New York's East Village and saw a fishbowl filled with marbles glowing in the sunlight. "The roundness, the brightness, the clarity, the simplicity - it amused me. I bought a whole bunch of marbles and put them in these honey jars I had collected and said, that's a sculpture." Feher had moved to New York from Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1981 at age 25 and had been struggling with paintings he made on laminated wood. Seeing the store display "was a freeing moment and I let go of everything else,"he recounts..."
